Endeavour Speciality Chemicals Limited (part of the Robinson Brothers Group) is based in Daventry, Northamptonshire. We have forty-seven employees, with seven personnel in our R&D department. For the last thirteen years we have been pleased to offer industrial placements, within our R&D function, to students undertaking Chemistry degrees.

Placements are given the opportunity to work in our R&D laboratories where challenging work is provided to develop synthetic routes to new molecules of commercial interest and also to improve the quality or efficiency of existing manufacturing products and processes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to carry out varied synthetic organic chemistries on a 50ml to 20 dm³ scale. Along with purification techniques such as; fractional distillation, recrystallization and column chromatography. You will be supported by experience chemists and encouraged to take ownership of your project from the outset.  You will also be given the opportunity to learn about the wider aspects of our business and how our placement projects are commercially valuable to our company.

Our main business is the manufacture and supply of aroma chemicals which the R&D team supports through product and process development. We also manufacture other speciality chemicals on a relatively small scale for a variety of end uses from pharmaceutical synthesis to paint additives. This small scale manufacture is often undertaken within the R&D function. From our experience we have seen that a valuable contribution can be made by students to all the activities in our R&D department during their time with us.
