1 Year Placement - April 2022/2023

Robinson Brothers Limited is one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of fine chemicals and rubber accelerators. We employ over 260 people at our site in West Bromwich in the West Midlands.

We have an opportunity for a 1 year student paid placement in our SHE Department. This would ideally suit a graduate studying a degree with a bias on Health and Safety, the Environment or in a Chemical discipline. The placement dates are for 2022-2023 and the start/finish are flexible.

During this placement you will learn how the SHE department plays an integral part in the management of a lower tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) chemical manufacturing site.

Some of the key activities you will be involved in will be:

• Fact finding for Near Miss/Accident/Incident investigations, in collaboration with Operations, on Chemical/Process Safety related incidents.
• Involvement and ownership of the investigations, including conducting Root Cause Analysis and agreeing actions to prevent future incidents.
• Training on such things as COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Heath), Chemical Awareness, Environmental Awareness, Asbestos, Manual Handling, Risk assessments etc
• Environmental/chemical plant auditing, including Health/Environmental Assessments
• Reviewing procedures and checking for consistency
• Analysing data and reporting
• Developing SHE related communications

This placement will be a great opportunity to develop your people and communication skills as you will be using these on a regular basis.

The salary for this role will be £15,840 with 25 days paid holiday pro-rata + all UK bank holidays. The hours of work are 08:45 – 16:30, Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
