Robinson Brothers Ltd is an independent, family owned, company manufacturing organic chemicals for the Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical, Rubber, Polymer, Food & Beverage and allied industries, operating from West Bromwich in the West Midlands.
We are recruiting for a Waste Chemist, whose responsibility will be to support the Waste manager in managing the waste across the processes we operate.

Duties and responsibilities include

• Ensure all personnel who need to use the waste log are trained and competent
• Continually review and update the waste log to ensure it is accurate
• Manage onsite waste stock; quantity in bunds per classification
• Provide direction and prioritisation to the Waste Supervisor on: storage locations and sampling.
• Liaise with QC on analysis of waste and Interpret results of waste streams to ensure accuracy of labelling.
• Create safety data sheets (SDS) of waste streams to ensure compliance and development as required in EXESS (Lisam).
• Recordkeeping and reporting
• Liaise at all levels within the company providing advice on Waste Handling.
• Take part in investigations into Waste related accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions and review upon completion
• Actively participate in activities/audits to maintain the company EMS (ISO14001)

Skills required

• Ability to use Excel, word, and PowerPoint to an excellent level
• Excellent level of communication and administrative skills
• Ability to manage dynamic workload often within strict deadlines

Education, training and experience
Essential

• BSc Chemistry degree or similar
• Knowledge of Duty of Care regulations
• At least 2 years’ experience in a waste management industry

Desirable

• CIWM (Chartered Institute of Waste Management) endorsed qualifications e.g. WAMITAB (Waste Management Industry Training & Advisory Board)
• Forklift Truck Licence

Salary dependant on experience but in the region of £30,000+. Hours of work are 8.45 am – 4.30 pm on site, a 36.25 hour week. 25 days holiday (plus all UK bank holidays), free life assurance cover and generous paid sick scheme (both after a qualifying period).
