Robinson Brothers has a long-standing history of serving the rubber market with their product portfolio branded under the Robac Technology division. Robac Technology provides a variety of elements that go on to constitute a wide range of automotive components.

The manufacture of a motor vehicle is a complex process, with several thousand components going into the design that leaves the showroom, and the automotive industry is constantly striving to improve performance.

With each new model, car makers strive to produce an end vehicle that is more lightweight than its predecessors, possesses improved fuel efficiency and, in many cases, contains as many parts as possible that can be effectively recycled in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Robinson Brothers has a long-standing history of serving the rubber market with their product portfolio branded under the Robac Technology division. Robac Technology provides a variety of elements that go on to constitute a wide range of automotive components.

These include items found beneath the bonnet such as engine mounts, brushes and hoses; the adhesives used within the vehicle's interior; and exterior products such as the windscreen wiper blades.

Each accelerator produced by Robac Technology provides performance improvements relating to the specific component's function, whether that is to allow them to operate at higher temperatures, last for longer or address a more specialised function such as vibration control. In addition, our Robac Technology team is at the forefront of the rubber industry, producing cleaner, safer and more effective products for use in automotive rubber components.

Case study: Robac AS100 / CAS: 137398-54-0
An example of a Robac Technology accelerator that has been developed to meet requirements for improved characteristics is Robac AS100, which does not contain any of the nitrosamine or nitrosatable matter that has been linked to Type IV allergies such as delayed contact dermatitis.

Robac AS100 is used in the manufacture of rubber to be used in engine mounts and, in addition to its improved safety properties, has been proven to provide increased vibration control - an important factor in the performance of motor vehicles. During the manufacturing process, sulfur is added to latex rubber to form the material for the engine mounts. Robac AS100 is also added and significantly increases the number of sulfur cross-links, which is a vital aspect when seeking to reduce vibration experienced in the final automotive design. Whatsmore, Robac AS100 complies with the BS EN 71:2016 Safety of Toys Standard and BS EN 12868:2017 Child Use and Care Articles Standard for N-Nitrosamines and N-Nitrosatable substances.
