Robinson Brothers are uniquely equipped for the manufacture and application of organosulfur chemicals.

From early beginnings in the manufacture of Mercaptocarboxylic acids e.g. Thioglycolic acid and gas odorising materials e.g. Tetrahydrothiophene by way of Hydrogen sulfide chemistries; our knowledge base has expanded over many years to include numerous examples of thiolations for the preparation of alkyl and aryl mercaptans and thiols (R-SH).

We are able to use and apply a wide variety of thiolating agents, including:

  • Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
  • Sulfur chlorides: S2Cl2, SO2Cl2, SOCl2
  • Sodium sulfide (NaS)
  • Sodium hydrogen sulfide (NaSH)
  • Phosphorous pentasulfide (P2S5)
  • Lawessons reagent (2,4-bis(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,2,4-dithiadiphosphetane-2,4-disulfide)
  • Thioacetic acid (CH3COSH)
  • Potassium thioacetate (CH3COSK)
  • Sodium ethylxanthate (C2H5C(=S)SNa) and Potassium ethylxanthate (C2H5C(=S)SK)
